Sponsor a species where you live!
Do you have access to a piece of land? How about a nice, sunny balcony? Be it container gardening, in ground beds, or access to a plot you want to restore with native plants, we would love to work with you to grow and propagate these plants! Simply reach out to us below, tell us what kind of space you have, and what species you are looking to plant. A volunteer with Terra Texana will reach out to get you live plants or seeds of that species to get growing! This is a reciprocal program, and in providing these plants or seeds, we request that you return seeds or propagated plants so that we can establish our seed bank, and provide more seeds to others.
Not sure what to plant? Provide us with the location and conditions of the land, and we can help you pick something that does well in similar areas. All information shared with Terra Texana is only accessible by those running the program the information was supplied to, and will NOT be shared with any third parties.
Terms of "Sponsor a Species" program
Below are the terms that you agree to by submitting information in the contact form below. A copy of these terms and a care guide will be included with your plants and/or seeds.

Seeds or Plants will get planted in a timely manner
We know life gets busy, but we need to ensure that plants and seeds will make it into their new home promptly. You will have 2 weeks from delivery to get the plants in the ground. If you need more time, or have extenuating circumstances- reach out to us at the contact information below, so we can work out a situation that works for both parties.

Plants will be cared for appropriately, and separated from plants they may cause hybridization
Terra Texana is providing native seeds, and in order to succeed in our mission, we need to make sure we are obtaining pure seed. Care must be taken to separate different species of the same genus by a minimum of 50 feet to ensure we do not receive hybrid seeds. Certain species may have different requirements, which you will be informed of prior to receiving. Many native species that occur in close quarters with one another do not readily hybridize, and may not need much separation, such as Asclepias sp. Hybrid seeds can be unpredictable, and while hybridization is a natural process, we want to make sure that the seed we are distributing is of the best quality, and will provide the best environmental impact possible.

You will attempt to return seed or propagated plants to Terra Texana's Seed Bank
Once your target species has gone to seed, we ask that you collect the seed and return approximately 20-50% of seed collected. Remember to leave some to reseed next year, and some as a source of food for wildlife! If your plant has spread by rhizome, and you can divide the plants, we ask you supply extra plants back to Terra Texana to share with others! We understand that plants can take a while to produce seed or spread, so there is no hard requirement for a certain amount of returned seed. If you do what you can, we will do what we can!
